FORMS STRIPPED

Wall forms were stripped today. Patio pour will occur tomorrow as the side yard was still a bit spongy from Tuesday night's gully-washer. Cultured stone veneer and wall cap were ordered today.

JULY UPDATE

Spent the last 3 months moving, unpacking, cleaning, moving, unpacking, cleaning... Lots of pictures remain unhung and plenty of stuff is still not put away. But, we are moved in and the old house has sold and closed - wahoo! corks popping! Now the real work begins.

Kicked off the landscaping the first week in July. Sprinklers are complete. Couple trees are planted with rock mulch in place, and we have 300-square feet of wild flower sod planted.

The hard-scaping continues. Exposed aggregate patio and retaining wall around garage foundation to be poured tomorrow.

PANTRY / MASTER CLOSET

Finally getting around to finishing up before moving in. Packages from the Container Store showed up this week with the elfa organizers for the pantry and master closet. Installation was a snap and I finished the job in a weekend. The elfa Platinum products are heavy duty and very strong. I like the industrial look and feel.

CONCRETE HEARTH

Hearth is concrete colored with Cheng's Charcoal mix.  Seven concrete panels cover the framed hearth.  Several transmission gears were placed on the surface areas.  Along the seam to the left of the fireplace, a transmission valve body was cut in half, and each half placed along the seam in the concrete.  Unfortunately, one of the valve body pieces lifted off the bottom of the form and does not show up in the polished concrete.  You can see the ghost image of the valve body in the 4th pic below.  Bummer.  I think it looks OK, but wifey does not... so, possibly more work ahead.  The fireplace opening is now surrounded by just drywall, but we are planning on adding a surround made of plate steel.
